Shot Blast Media

We offer Stainless Steel Shot Blast Media in either cut wire, or shot shapes.

We produce our stainless steel shot from cut wire. We begin by first producing stainless steel cut wire to the required dimensions +/- 0.05. We then run the cut wire in a blasting machine to make it round. During this process due to the change in shape from a cylinder to a ball the overall dimensions change and the shot can become a little larger +/- 0.1mm.

The shot produce in this way is more accurate then cast shot. As in cast shot the sieve range is more varied and smaller sizes are always included although in small percentages. Also if you compare the two methods the cast shot is not round, and therefore causes more wear on your machine parts. In general our stainless steel shot will last longer as you have more pieces of the correct size and so each piece of shot has the same life span in the blasting process. In cast shot if you have 10% undersize then this 10% will obviously not have the same life.

As our shot is more uniform in size and shape the finish on your components is more consistent. Raw material: - Type 304 Spring Wire Class I

Specialty Media

We have supplied for the past 5 years a special media RDS-SI to several customers for cleaning molds. Most of the users are aluminum wheel manufactures cleaning the residue from the molds without damage and with minimum wear. Saving time over standard processes as the efficiency of this media is far greater than other Media, and with virtually no wear to the mold, the life of the mold is extended. This media can be used in both wheel and air blasting machines.

It is available in 3 sizes:

• RDS-SI 0.2 - (0.063mm - 0.15mm)
• RDS-SI 0.3 - (0.15mm - 0.50mm)
• RDS-SI 0.5 - (0.15mm - 0.71mm)

This media has been designed for deflashing complex components made from Thermoset plastics and Engineering plastics such as circuit breakers, electrical connectors, switches etc.

It can be made in various colors to enable easy spotting of media lodgment. We carry stock of red material but can supply various colors upon request.

We have 4 sizes available:

• ISNC15 - (1.5 mm)
• ISNC1 - (1.0 mm)
• ISNC.75 - (0.75mm)
• ISNC.5 - (0.5mm)

PBCM media was specially designed to gently de-flash and remove from sensitive surfaces and is ideal for mold cleaning, removing paint and other coating removal.
